In July, 2017;  the National Council on Education ratified the return of History into the national curriculum – for primary and junior secondary schools.

The implementation of the History curriculum commenced in September 2019. Yet, some schools are yet to start its implementation. Reports from various states’ ministry showed that a large number of schools are unware of this development.

As a result, selected states waived the subject for willing schools in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). However, it is a unanimous resolve that starting next year, History will become compulsory for all schools in BECE.

These are official schemes of work. Get them ahead of next session.
